Request A Canoe

Canoe Request

For members to make a request for a canoe

  • Fields marked with an * are required

Please fill out this form if you wish to use an IMUA canoe at a non-SCORA event, or for practicing in preparation for a non-SCORA event. Your request will be subject to approval by the Kane & Wahine Coaches and/or the Board of Directors. Simply filling out this form does not guarantee that your request will be granted. Whether or not your request is granted, and the type of canoe you are assigned, are matters within the sole discretion of the Kane & Wahine Coaches and/or the Board.

If you anticipate that there will be multiple requests for canoes for a specific event, you should get your request in as early as possible since requests will be reviewed and canoes will be assigned in the order that they are received. Your request should be submitted no less than 7 days prior to the event date.

VERY IMPORTANT: When you register for a non-SCORA event, please be sure to register your team as “IMUA Outrigger Canoe Club”, followed by your team name. For example “IMUA Outrigger Canoe Club – The IMUA Masters Six.” If you do not include “IMUA Outrigger Canoe Club” as part of the team name, it may affect our insurance coverage. If you are assigned a canoe, it will be your responsibility to ensure that it is properly loaded/unloaded, transported, and cared for and that it returns to our beach in the same condition as when it left. You will be held responsible for any damage done to the canoe while it is under your care. Mahalo for your understanding.

Financial Responsibility: You are financially responsible for the canoe from the moment the canoe leaves the Imua beach to the moment the canoe returns. This includes any and all damage to the canoe, ama, iakos, rigging, everything. You are responsible for informing all crew members of this.

**There may be a fee charged when borrowing an IMUA canoe and/or trailer commensurate to rental or use fees that Hawaiian teams charge out-of-state paddlers to use their canoes. The fee amount will be decided by the Board of Directors.
